Temple University's Research Administration Department is seeking a motivated IRB Program Analyst to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a hybrid work schedule.
Salary Range: $53,000 - $65,000 per year. Salary is determined by factors including job duties, applicant education and experience, internal equity, department budget, and funding source.
About the Role
The IRB Program Analyst plays a crucial role in the review of human subjects research at Temple University. You will collaborate with the university's research community and affiliated offices to ensure researchers meet compliance requirements for their research approvals and maintain compliance throughout the research lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct reviews of IRB protocol submissions, continuing reviews, and amendments for approved studies.
- Assist Principal Investigators (PIs) in developing and submitting protocols and informed consent forms by providing expertise on study design, human subjects research regulations, and the submission process.
- Identify and resolve issues or concerns with PIs to ensure timely approval of submissions.
- Develop training materials for the research community to guide the preparation of IRB submissions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, guidelines, and ethical codes related to the protection of human subjects in research.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in IRB or regulatory compliance within a research or clinical setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (e.g., experience drafting and submitting IRB protocols as a study coordinator or graduate student).
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations, ethical issues, institutional policies, and agency requirements governing human subjects research.
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, or similar software programs.
- Ability to work effectively in remote and cloud-based computer environments, including video conferencing.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including training abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must maintain working knowledge of current regulations, guidelines, and trends in human subjects research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field that included working with human subjects.
- Experience with biomedical human research.
