Job Description

Lead BI Developer

Launch Potato is a profitable digital media company reaching over 30 million monthly visitors through brands like FinanceBuzz, All About Cookies, and OnlyInYourState. As The Discovery and Conversion Company, our mission is to connect consumers with leading brands through data-driven content and technology. We are a remote-first company with a high-growth, high-performance culture.

About the Role

Launch Potato is seeking a Lead BI Developer to own the reporting infrastructure that drives decision-making across our Credit Cards, Make Money/Manage Money, Banking, and Marketplace verticals. This role offers a clear growth path into becoming a proactive analytical partner who anticipates business needs. You will be embedded with the business teams, partnering closely with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management to uncover trends, conduct retrospective analyses, and provide insights that challenge current thinking. This is not a role for someone who simply builds dashboards; it's for someone who is deeply invested in ensuring their work is used, understood, and acted upon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and how reporting is utilized.
  • Audit existing reporting, identify discrepancies, redundancies, and inconsistencies, and develop a roadmap for standardization.
  • Bridge business context and data understanding to articulate how verticals generate revenue and identify key performance levers.
  • Execute ad hoc requests with accuracy and business context while improving dashboard standardization.
  • Develop trusted data sources to enhance data consumption efficiency.
  • Conduct retrospective analyses across experiments, creatives, offers, seasonality, and CAC performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management teams.
  • Educate business teams on best practices and deliver a standardized reporting suite for confident self-service analytics.
  • Act as a trusted technical owner for assigned verticals, from raw data ingestion to final dashboard.
  • Proactively recommend actions based on data insights, not just report findings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in business intelligence or analytics, with direct exposure to performance or affiliate marketing.
  • Expertise in SQL and comfort working with unstructured, complex data.
  • Proven ability to build, standardize, and drive adoption of reporting, enhancing data literacy within teams.
  • Experience optimizing performance marketing, connecting data to business drivers like campaign performance, conversion rates, and revenue per session.
  • Advanced LookML development skills (or equivalent experience with Power BI/Tableau).
  • Strong curiosity and business depth, with a drive to understand the business and become a trusted analytical partner.
  • Experience owning reporting end-to-end, including data pipelines and dashboards.
  • Experience working with messy, complex, third-party data.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business teams to uncover trends, conduct retrospective analyses, and connect data work to business decisions.
  • Analytical rigor, with the ability to trace discrepancies to their source.
  • Excellent communication skills, ensuring insights are delivered with appropriate context.
  • Proactive ownership, surfacing problems early and driving work forward with a clear point of view.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a genuine interest in stakeholder needs.

What We Offer

  • Base Salary: $120,000 to $150,000 per year, paid semi-monthly.
  • A remote-first work environment with a global team.
  • A high-performance culture where speed, ownership, and measurable impact drive success.
  • Opportunities to accelerate your career by owning outcomes and driving impact.
  • Profit-sharing bonus.
  • Competitive benefits package.
  • Performance-driven environment with future increases based on company and personal performance.

Launch Potato is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are an Equal Employment Opportunity company and do not discriminate based on protected characteristics.
