About the Role
As the Customer Development Manager for Wakefern, you will be responsible for delivering sales objectives related to volume, spending, and retail execution. You will develop and implement strategic plans to maximize volume, profitability, and customer service, with direct oversight of the business's Profit and Loss (P&L). This is a remote role, with a preference for flexibility to work from the New York, NY office on occasion.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for products and programs, developing customer marketing strategies informed by consumer insights and competitor analysis.
- Create promotional strategies that benefit all stakeholders.
- Build strong partnerships with direct reports, cross-functional teams, brokers, and the customer retail team, fostering mutual trust and integrity.
- Coach and develop junior talent, demonstrating a passion for team leadership.
- Influence internal and external partners through collaboration, negotiation, and thought leadership.
- Seek creative solutions and continuously improve strategies by analyzing pre- and post-evaluations and return on investment.
- Analyze business trends within each account, including brand share, pricing, promotion levels, and trade class development, to understand the effectiveness of investment levers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4+ years of experience in sales roles or related fields
- Experience working with a syndicated data service (e.g., Nielsen, IRI)
- Previous people leadership experience, including managing teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the consumer product goods industry
- Direct experience working with Wakefern/ShopRite
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs)
