About the Role
This position is responsible for managing the East Midlands territory, focusing on the business development and sales of Hill's Prescription Diet, Science Plan, and VetEssentials brands. You will engage with veterinarians, animal care providers, and pet store staff, providing technical training and product presentations. The role involves developing commercial business plans and programs for customers, and representing Hill's at industry events such as congresses and exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinic / Store Business Development:
- Develop a deep understanding of customer businesses and build strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within veterinary practices and specialty pet stores.
- Provide professional support, including detailing, in-clinic/store seminars, technical training, and merchandising.
- Identify opportunities and develop technical and business propositions to meet both customer and Hill's needs.
- Implement commercial activities to ensure product awareness, full distribution, and professional endorsement across all core disease categories and retail environments.
- Drive rapid acceptance and distribution of new products, establish optimal shelf space and inventory levels, and implement merchandising and practice protocols to Hill's standards.
- Increase new user recruitment for Hill's brands through recommendations and trial programs.
- Develop and implement annual joint business/action plans for key accounts to achieve commercial objectives.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key stakeholders to assess performance against goals and adjust plans as needed.
- Territory Management:
- Achieve territory sales targets.
- Plan and execute call value (coverage, frequency, productivity) based on account classification and required activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely call reports and records within the Hill's reporting system.
- Regularly review account potential and identify new business opportunities.
- Ensure strong presence and endorsement for Hill's brands in all accounts.
- Leverage company tools to drive execution.
- Business & Financial Management:
- Monitor territory objectives against targets and develop strategies to address market changes.
- Manage the assigned budget and ensure timely submission of payment requests and expense reports.
- Product Knowledge:
- Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition, and Hill's and competitor products through training and self-study.
- Meetings & Conferences:
- Represent Hill's at trade shows, local and national meetings, client meetings, and special events.
- Stay informed about industry trends and competitive activity, sharing insights with the Head Office.
Requirements
- Relevant training or experience as a veterinarian or veterinary nurse is advantageous.
- Proven experience in customer and business development.
- Results-driven with a track record of effective execution and achieving KPIs.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships and focus on customer and consumer needs.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage a busy field schedule independently.
- Willingness to travel 100% within the assigned territory.
