About the Role
The Business Process Analyst plays a crucial role within the Admissions Transformation Programme. This position is responsible for ensuring process simplification and operational improvement are integral to all change activities. You will analyze and document current admissions processes, identify inefficiencies and dependencies, and support the design of lean, future-state ways of working. By fostering a shared understanding of end-to-end processes, you will help reduce delivery risk, support business-led prioritization, and enable measurable improvements in service effectiveness and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Map, document, and maintain current-state admissions processes using UCAS standard tools and methodologies, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and version control.
- Capture detailed process catalogues, including inputs, outputs, systems, decision points, and roles, through workshops, observations, and SME interviews.
- Apply Lean thinking to identify waste and inefficiencies (e.g., bottlenecks, rework, delays, hand-offs, inconsistencies) and articulate their impact on customers and operations.
- Contribute to innovative discussions by exploring possibilities and suggesting lean-led opportunities for admissions process improvement.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in process mapping, documentation, or workflow analysis within a complex operational or service environment.
- Proven experience applying Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Business Process Improvement approaches to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative information, identify themes, and summarize findings clearly for various stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to document processes, insights, and requirements in a clear, structured, and accessible manner.
- Confidence in engaging with subject matter experts and operational colleagues, building trust, and encouraging participation in process improvement activities.
- Working knowledge of process modelling tools such as Visio or equivalent, and experience following documentation standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize workload across multiple activities within a change or transformation context.
- Considerable experience supporting transformation or significant change initiatives, ideally involving business process change, technology, or service redesign.
- Relevant professional qualifications in process analysis, Lean, or Continuous Improvement are desirable.
