Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, part of the FTSE100 Spirax Group, is seeking a driven Sales Engineer to join their team. This is a remote, permanent role covering the EMEA region, focusing on upstream bioprocessing applications within the Life Sciences market.

About the Role

As a Sales Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving sustainable business growth by building strong customer relationships, providing expert technical guidance, and promoting innovative fluid management solutions. You will identify and engage potential customers, manage a robust sales pipeline, and foster growth within key accounts through consultative selling practices. This role involves frequent customer interaction, including on-site visits and virtual demonstrations, to showcase the value of our cutting-edge products. Success in this role requires autonomy, extensive travel, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management: Develop and maintain a sustainable pipeline of opportunities by growing key customers and high-growth industries within Upstream Bioprocessing.
  • Business Development: Identify and engage potential customers through research, networking, and industry events, promoting the full range of Watson-Marlow products.
  • Consultative Selling: Employ a consultative approach to guide customers through their buying journey, from understanding their needs and pain points to co-developing tailored solutions.
  • Customer Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to existing customers, offering technical expertise, troubleshooting, and proactive recommendations to enhance system performance.
  • Sales Lead Management: Manage sales leads and inquiries, provide tailored quotations, and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • Strategic Workload Allocation: Strategically allocate workload across EMEA support functions to maximize capacity for high-impact commercial initiatives.
  • Product Demonstrations: Conduct on-site or virtual demonstrations of Watson-Marlow products, highlighting features, benefits, and applications.
  • Market Research: Research competitor, market, and industry trends, engage in continuous professional development, and share insights with global colleagues.
  • CRM Utilization: Use CRM tools to track leads, manage the sales funnel, ensure consistent follow-ups, and provide accurate sales forecasts.
  • Championing Values: Uphold company values, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, customer focus, excellence, and respect.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of fluid handling applications within upstream bioprocessing.
  • BSc or Diploma in an aligned subject, or equivalent technical experience in a related industry.
  • Proven technical sales experience selling process capital equipment or similar products/services into life sciences customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in key account management and business development within a technical B2B environment.
  • Entrepreneurial skills, including problem-solving, budgeting, networking, and collaboration.
  • Ability to travel 60-70% across the designated EMEA territory.
