Customer and Sector Insights Lead: Mining

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, part of the FTSE100 Spirax Group, is seeking a strategic and experienced Customer and Sector Insights Lead with a focus on the Mining industry. This is a remote, permanent position with global travel requirements.

About the Role

This global strategic role focuses on driving the growth of designated market sectors and their associated portfolios, with a strong emphasis on capturing and disseminating customer insights. Reporting to the Customer & Market Insights Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping how Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions serves the mining industry and positions itself for future success. You will act as a commercial expert, bringing a strong customer voice to internal discussions and strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the commercial expert for the mining sector, enabling Sales to exceed revenue and contribution margin targets.
  • Facilitate portfolio pricing strategies for various routes to market.
  • Lead efforts to win contracts, tenders, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Conduct global field sales work to build expertise in applications, processes, and portfolio capabilities, while identifying and addressing competitive threats.
  • Capture and disseminate customer insights and application/process knowledge to Training Content and Marcoms teams.
  • Design and implement go-to-market strategies tailored to specific sub-sectors, considering customer needs and the competitive landscape to drive lead generation.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Sales, Supply, and Global Engineering to integrate customer and sector insights into the New Product Introduction (NPI) roadmap and sales strategies.
  • Validate NPI commercial plans and facilitate successful new product commercialization.
  • Develop the solution selling capability of the Sales team to deliver market-leading Customer Value Propositions (CVPs).
  • Ensure appropriate commercial and technical support is provided to customers in collaboration with Sales and Supply teams.
  • Build and maintain a network of market contacts, attending customer sites, exhibitions, and conferences as an advocate and Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Follow the Global Business Development Framework (Protect/Grow/Expand) for standard work guidance.

Requirements

  • BSc/BEng in an Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience developing and executing regional or global commercial growth strategies within the mining sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mining customers across multiple international regions, understanding diverse market dynamics, customer requirements, and routes to market.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding commercial negotiations, pricing, contract frameworks, and group gross contribution.
  • Exceptional leadership and followership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using CRM, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 50% for networking, account development, campaign execution, and customer collaboration.
