About the Role
Reporting to Application Engineering Management, the Associate Application Engineer will analyze heating applications to design innovative, customer-focused solutions. This role involves developing cost-effective solutions for unique heating and temperature control applications by working on customer quotes. The Associate Application Engineer is crucial in providing technical support to the sales team and will collaborate with design engineering to offer design and order support across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and quote premium solutions for standard and customer-specific thermal applications.
- Coordinate quotation and order entry activities with sales, engineering, and plant personnel, including managing sample orders and drawings for approval.
- Understand market dynamics and competition to manage the quotation of competitive designs.
- Assist Sales Engineers by providing expertise to offer optimal thermal solutions for unique applications.
- Determine material requirements and associated costs for product designs in collaboration with engineering and purchasing departments.
- Manage pricing and margin targets for key accounts and new opportunities.
- Develop proficiency in using product design and pricing tools.
- Assist customers and representatives in troubleshooting common equipment or application issues.
- Approve and support orders, playing a key role in design and order support alongside design engineering and sales.
- Lead meetings with engineering, production, project management, finance, and sales to ensure visibility and communicate accurate customer dates for large order opportunities.
- Assist in documenting, analyzing, and improving processes.
- Support or facilitate process improvement and strategic projects as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred. An appropriate technical degree or equivalent experience is required.
- 1-5 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) for diverse audiences.
- Strong customer service and time management skills.
