Senior People Operations Specialist
Mercury is a fintech company seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Senior People Operations Specialist to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering exceptional employee experiences and maintaining operational excellence within our People function. You will serve as a Workday power user and process expert, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of employee data and HR processes.
This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to our Head of People Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries related to People programs, policies, processes, and Workday transactions.
- Provide timely and accurate support for employee lifecycle events including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and terminations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless employee experience across all People Operations processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, streamline workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform regular audits and data quality reviews to ensure data integrity across Workday and connected systems.
- Administer and troubleshoot issues related to leave administration, performance reviews, benefits enrollment, and other People initiatives in partnership with HR, Payroll, Benefits, managers, and employees.
- Maintain organizational structures including supervisory organizations, positions, job profiles, cost centers, and related configurations.
- Support Workday security administration, including role assignments, security reviews, and user access maintenance.
- Execute and validate mass data updates using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) and other Workday tools.
- Troubleshoot Workday issues and partner with HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, and IT teams to resolve system and process concerns.
- Conduct testing for Workday releases, enhancements, business process updates, and system changes.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment regulations.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, HRIS, or a related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on Workday experience.
- Experience working in complex organizations with multiple business units and diverse employee populations (local and international).
- Proven experience processing employee transactions and maintaining employee data in Workday.
- Experience performing EIB data loads and mass data updates.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Workday business processes and employee lifecycle management.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.

Target New Hire Base Salary Ranges:
- US Employees (NYC, LA, Seattle, SF Bay Area): $154,200 – $192,800 USD
- US Employees (Outside of major metro areas): $138,800 – $173,500 USD
- Canadian Employees (Any location): CAD 145,800 – 182,200
