About the Role
The Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions will manage employee exits for Remote's external employees, focusing on legal compliance and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role also provides first-level Employee Relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating necessary resources. As part of the broader Lifecycle team, you will contribute to process improvements and initiatives aligned with Remote's strategic goals and values.
Key Responsibilities
Offboarding
- Manage and resolve end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions, ensuring a superior offboarding experience.
- Provide guidance on HR matters including termination, resignation, transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
- Lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees regarding workforce reductions, administrative hearings, negotiations, and terminations.
- Negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations, balancing stakeholder interests.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions) to ensure compliance in offboarding activities.
- Draft, tailor, and administer all termination and supplementary documents with accuracy and attention to detail, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Process offboarding on Remote's internal HRIS platform, collaborating with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other teams.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for all offboarding matters, responding to internal and external queries.
Employee Relations
- Navigate clients through Remote's Employee Relations resources and guides.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identifying key facts and applicable local regulations.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for appropriate handling of employee relations matters.
- Support clients in understanding progressive disciplinary approaches and documentation requirements.
- Monitor ongoing employee relations cases, ensuring timely follow-up.
Process Improvement
- Actively identify opportunities for and contribute to process improvements, automation, product development, and overall customer and employee experience.
Key Requirements and Characteristics
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies and exposure across the employee lifecycle.
- Proven experience managing voluntary and involuntary exits with sensitivity and legal compliance.
- Strong background in providing HR support and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Ability to interpret industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, conduct research, and provide practical solutions.
- Basic understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
- Excellent communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
- Business-level (advanced) proficiency in written and spoken English. Additional languages are a plus.
- Aptitude and appetite to innovate and optimize processes, championing automation and best practices.
- Efficiency in operations with an awareness of the importance of thorough record-keeping and data integrity.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to collaborate asynchronously and adapt to new systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in a fast-paced, asynchronous, remote environment with multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Proactive, self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Demonstrates strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
