Marshalls PLC is seeking a motivated and commercially astute Commercial Manager to join our House Builder Team. This is a field-based, senior-level, permanent role covering Wales and the South West of the UK.
About the Role
As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for identifying sales opportunities and nurturing key relationships within the housebuilder sector. You will develop and execute an effective business plan to achieve sales budgets, improve sales process efficiency, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This role involves supporting our pricing structure, attending regular regional meetings, and preparing forecasts to support business planning.
Reporting directly to the Trading Director, this is a high-impact, results-driven position focused on driving growth and profitability. You will manage and expand partnerships with key housebuilder customers and stakeholders, negotiate and manage trading agreements, and represent Marshalls at customer events and reviews. You will also contribute to the wider sales strategy, defining initiatives for sustainable growth.
This role is crucial for maintaining and growing sales of external bricks and masonry products, building on the division's excellent growth over the past five years.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities within the housebuilder sector.
- Nurture and develop strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement effective business plans to achieve sales targets.
- Monitor, report on, and achieve KPIs.
- Support and manage the company's pricing structure.
- Negotiate and manage trading agreements to maximise outcomes.
- Attend regular meetings and customer events across your region.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales forecasts.
- Represent the business professionally at customer reviews and industry events.
- Contribute to the development of the overall sales strategy.
Requirements
- Strong experience within the Housebuilder and construction sector, with an existing network of industry contacts.
- Experience in the Bricks & Masonry market or wider construction industry is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving profitability.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in negotiation and contract management.
- Commercially astute with strong financial and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Confident and persuasive in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to quickly learn new product ranges and understand market dynamics.
- Full driving licence required.
