Cloud Systems Engineer (Remote)
ECS is seeking a skilled Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a permanent, fully remote position based in the USA.
About the Role
As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our software development and system engineering teams. Your primary focus will be on testing developed software within the AWS Cloud environment. This includes developing and executing test procedures, collecting test artifacts, and assisting with pre- and post-testing preparation and reviews. You will also be involved in implementing and designing server, network, and software configurations with a focus on DevOps principles, and monitoring system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and design server, network, and software configurations for cloud computing infrastructure and applications, emphasizing DevOps principles.
- Monitor and test system performance.
- Support software development and system engineering teams with testing in the AWS Cloud.
- Write, execute, and document test procedures and collect test artifacts.
- Assist with pre- and post-testing preparation and reviews.
- Understand business needs and translate them into IT/business capabilities by working directly with multiple teams and business units.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and the development process as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a Technical Field, or a related discipline, OR a minimum of 4 years of experience supporting AWS.
- 4-6 years of experience administering cloud computing, storage, and infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Perl, Java, PowerShell, PHP, Ruby, and/or Python.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services and containerization technologies, including building Docker Container Images.
- Experience with scripting languages, open standard data interchange formats, and job scheduling and management software tools (e.g., ECR, EKS, YAML, Python, JSON, OpenPBS).
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), code-defined infrastructure, configuration management tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS Lambda and serverless systems.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise IT environments.
- Strong verbal and communication skills, with the ability to work with senior leadership and across organizational teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Must be able to secure a Public Trust clearance.
What We Offer
- Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 per year.
