About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the Fintech area at Remote. As our Senior Product Manager, Fraud and Compliance, you will own the systems and strategies that protect Remote and its customers from increasing fraud, credit risk, and compliance risks as we scale. You will drive the evolution of our risk and compliance capabilities from reactive, rule-based controls to proactive, automated systems that identify risk signals early and scale efficiently. This is a high-autonomy, high-stakes role where you will report to the Director of Product and collaborate closely with Risk, Compliance, Treasury, Legal, Collections, and Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Risk Assessment and Reserve Management: Drive the strategy for evaluating, scoring, and mitigating credit risk. Evolve models and tooling to be smarter, faster, and more automated.
- Fraud Detection and Prevention: Own fraud controls, freeze mechanisms, and dispute workflows. Build proactive strategies to detect and prevent fraud.
- Compliance Automation: Own end-to-end onboarding compliance, including Know Your Business (KYB) verification, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) screening, and background checks. Drive automation to reduce manual effort while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Platform-Oriented Systems: Build flexible systems that operations teams can configure and extend, removing engineering as a bottleneck for responding to new risk and compliance patterns.
- Collections and Enforcement: Partner with Collections and Treasury on risk reserves, payment blocks, and enforcement actions, owning the administrative and customer-facing interfaces.
- Iterative Delivery: Lead a product team to deliver high throughput and high ROI, advancing key KPIs around automation rates, false-positive reduction, and risk accuracy.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively across risk, operations, and finance teams. Translate complex risk trade-offs into clear product decisions and align with Compliance Operations, Treasury, Legal, and senior leadership.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Cursor and/or Claude Code: You must be able to autonomously build, debug, and ship functional code and prototypes, not just write specifications.
- AI Fluency: Possess a strong understanding of how AI and automation can transform risk operations, from pattern detection to anomaly scoring and compliance workflows.
- Product Management Experience: Seasoned Product Manager with a proven track record on platform, API, or products for operational teams.
- Platform Mindset: Experience building systems that are scalable and extensible for others to use.
- Strong UX Sensibilities: A focus on creating intuitive and efficient user experiences for both administrative and customer-facing tools.
- Communication and Collaboration: Outstanding ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and lead by example in asynchronous workflows.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Comfortable querying data and using visualization tools to inform prioritization.
- Fast Learner with Growth Mindset: Humble, eager to learn, and quick to adapt to new territories, sharing knowledge to elevate the team.
- Great Judgment: Ability to make sound strategic and tactical decisions regarding prioritization and feature scope.
- Language: Business-level proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Domain Advantage (Nice to Have): Experience with risk/compliance platforms, third-party screening, or fraud detection tooling.
What We Offer
- Work from Anywhere: Embrace true location independence.
- Flexible Paid Time Off: Manage your time off to suit your needs.
- Flexible Working Hours: Our asynchronous work model allows you to plan your schedule around your life.
- 16 Weeks Paid Parental Leave: Support for new parents.
- Mental Health Support Services: Resources to support your well-being.
- Stock Options: Opportunity to share in the company's success.
- Learning Budget: Invest in your professional development.
- Home Office & IT Equipment Budget: Set up your ideal workspace.
- Budget for Local Social Events or Co-working Spaces: Connect with colleagues and your local community.
