About the Role
Synovus is seeking a Credit Reports Officer to provide technical expertise and support for data architecture related to reporting services. This role involves design expertise in data warehouses, data marts, and business intelligence enterprise reporting. You will work with large and moderately complex data sets to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies, identifying and compiling data sets to predict, improve, and measure key business-to-business outcomes.
This position is crucial for developing tools and processes to maintain common, firm-wide data standards, implementing norms for data dictionaries, and supporting strategies to reduce data redundancy, thereby increasing data consistency, quality, and confidence for decision-making. You will collaborate closely with team members on daily deliverables and assist less experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and support for data architecture for reporting services, and design expertise in data warehouses, data marts, and business intelligence enterprise reporting.
- Identify opportunities to increase the use of business intelligence within the firm, designing end-to-end business intelligence solutions.
- Ensure alignment with Synovus business architecture and strategy, participating in new business intelligence initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data owners to implement processes and procedures that maintain governance, stewardship, transparency, and control of Synovus data assets.
- Participate in testing of data governance toolsets, building an enterprise data asset map and data dictionary.
- Work with Engineering to establish gating, data utilization policies, and external agency guidelines.
- Execute system testing and participate in the analysis and reconciliation of data and reporting projects.
- Maintain and report relevant product, site, and customer metrics, applying findings to develop goals and projections.
- Create documentation for data requests, including validation, testing, and user acceptance.
- Identify opportunities for Master Data Management to standardize data definitions and implement accurate metadata.
- Serve as a liaison between internal business customers and Information Technology on tactical projects.
- Observe all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to the role, and report any known or suspected violations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of experience in Information Technology, including collecting business requirements related to data usage, performing data mapping, conducting data quality assessments, and developing/utilizing automation.
- Understanding of reporting and/or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS, SQL Server).
- Knowledge of various technologies, data models, and insights across relevant data sources.
- Understanding of Governance principles.
- Familiarity with concepts such as data mining, extraction, and analysis as they pertain to specific bank pillars (e.g., Commercial, Retail, Wealth).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to quickly shift between technology stacks.
- Ability to mentor and train team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
