Systems Engineer (Intermediate, Cyber Infrastructure) - Remote
ECS is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a focus on Cyber Infrastructure to join our team remotely. This role will provide essential infrastructure support for the NIH NIAID Enabling and Advancing Technologies (NEAT) program. You will play a key part in facilitating the implementation and operation of network and cybersecurity initiatives, supporting current and future technologies within the NIAID and NIH environment. This includes evaluating, planning, and implementing new technologies in response to evolving business strategies, policies, and regulatory changes.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware, operating systems, and attached devices.
- Investigate, analyze, recommend, configure, install, and test new network hardware and software.
- Provide direct support for the day-to-day operations of network hardware and operating systems.
- Evaluate system utilization, monitor response times, and offer primary support for detecting and correcting operational problems.
- Troubleshoot network issues at the physical level, utilizing network measurement hardware and software.
- Perform physical checks and testing of hardware devices, as well as logical level work with communication protocols.
- Maintain network infrastructure standards, including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Provide technical consultation, training, and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems, and applications, including support teams and ensuring quality of service operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance.
- Strong supervisory skills in managing system configuration and operation.
- Experience working with network hardware and operating systems.
- Experience performing investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
- Reside within the Washington DC Metro area.
- Willingness to travel within the Washington DC Metro Area, and CONUS as needed.
