Ledcor Technical Services is seeking an experienced Multi Utility Locator to join their team in the London area, Ontario. If you take pride in accurately identifying underground facilities and are comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, this role might be for you.
About the Role
As a Multi Utility Locator, you will be responsible for accurately interpreting job order tickets and locating underground utilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and integrity of utility infrastructure by preventing damage during excavation and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret job order tickets and accurately locate underground utilities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction drawings.
- Plan travel routes between urban and rural areas.
- Operate testing and locating equipment to pinpoint underground utilities.
- Monitor equipment (e.g., excavators) to ensure facilities are not damaged.
- Create drawings using Visio.
- Work independently while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and safety standards.
- Meet project timelines in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience locating underground utilities across multiple utility types.
- Experience working with telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, and other utility infrastructure.
- Completion of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certification.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize workload effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with multiple applications and digital tools.
- Valid Full G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to maintain company vehicle, test equipment, and tools in excellent condition.
Work Conditions
- Company van and major tools will be provided.
- Travel is required, including occasional overnight and out-of-town assignments or training.
- Work environments include residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas, across varying terrain.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as required.
