About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Logistics Specialist to manage the end-to-end logistics of IT hardware across Europe and beyond. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of racks, servers, and other data center equipment. You will oversee domestic European transport, inbound international freight (primarily from Taiwan), outbound shipments from Europe, and logistics to and from Israel, including RMA/RMS shipments. This is a hands-on, operationally focused position requiring strong attention to detail, excellent vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics Operations:
- Manage the complete transportation lifecycle for IT hardware (racks, servers, data center equipment) across all lanes: domestic European, inbound international (from Taiwan and other origins), outbound from Europe, and shipments to/from Israel.
- Coordinate inbound freight scheduling, including ocean and air freight, managing carrier and freight forwarder selection and delivery execution.
- Handle all RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and RMS (Return to Manufacturer Service) shipments, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Manage equipment transfers between company warehouses and data center facilities across Europe, optimizing routes and minimizing risk.
- Maintain full visibility of active shipments, proactively resolving transit issues, delays, or exceptions.
- Develop contingency plans and alternative routing strategies for business continuity.
- Manage time-critical air freight shipments, including carrier selection, booking, and tracking.
- Coordination & Documentation:
- Collaborate with data center operations teams to support staging, buffering, and just-in-time hardware deployment.
- Maintain accurate in-transit inventory records and ensure proper chain-of-custody documentation.
- Manage all shipment-related documentation in relevant systems (e.g., Jira, TMS).
- Oversee customs documentation and clearance processes for all cross-border shipments.
- Process and reconcile logistics invoices, managing payments for transportation operations.
- Work with the security team to establish and maintain secure shipment protocols.
- Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure all shipments comply with applicable regulations, including EU transport and customs requirements, and cross-border trade compliance for shipments involving Israel.
- Manage VAT, duties, and customs declarations for international shipments in line with EU regulations.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for all logistics activities.
- Establish and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with freight carriers, forwarders, and 3PL partners.
- Identify and escalate compliance gaps or process deviations, implementing corrective actions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with hardware engineering, procurement, finance, and data center operations to align logistics with business priorities.
- Collaborate with OEM suppliers (e.g., Giga, ASUS) to coordinate international shipping, customs documentation, and inbound scheduling.
- Coordinate with teams and partners in Israel for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Act as the primary escalation point for European transport-related issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through KPI tracking, root cause analysis, and process standardization.
- Planning & Cost Management:
- Forecast transportation demand based on expansion plans and deployment schedules.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities through carrier consolidation, routing improvements, and scheduling.
- Track and report on logistics costs, flagging variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Support data-driven decision-making through regular reporting and operational analytics.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, freight, or logistics management, preferably within technology, data center, or hardware supply chain environments.
- Proven experience managing domestic European and international freight operations (LTL/FTL, ocean, air), including carrier, forwarder, and 3PL coordination.
- Solid understanding of EU customs regulations, import/export procedures, and cross-border trade compliance.
- Hands-on experience with RMA/RMS shipment processes and reverse logistics.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Jira, or similar tracking and documentation platforms.
- Experience managing large, heavy, or high-value freight (e.g., server racks, IT infrastructure equipment) is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills with a high standard for accuracy
