About the Role
As an Enterprise Sales Engineer at Samsara, you will play a crucial role in both expanding existing customer relationships and acquiring new clients, while also contributing as a senior resource to the Sales Engineering team. You will be instrumental in driving technical sales, requiring strong storytelling, objection handling, custom workaround development, and advanced integration expertise. Insights gained from your activities will be shared across the SE team to foster collective growth.
Beyond direct sales support, you will dedicate time to sourcing and delivering product information, testing alpha products/features, managing projects, and developing process improvements and automation to scale the SE team. This role carries a quota, emphasizing the need for excellent time management and a clear focus on achieving sales targets alongside senior responsibilities.
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United States, excluding the San Francisco Bay Metro, New York City Metro, and Washington DC Metro areas. The role requires up to 50% travel, and proximity to an international airport is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct product demonstrations and facilitate live proof-of-concept trials for prospective customers, ensuring full understanding and utilization of the Samsara platform.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and other relevant teams to contribute to the development of the Samsara platform.
- Articulate the value proposition of Samsara’s products and services, showcasing core platform capabilities through on-site presentations, webinars, and field events.
- Respond to functional and technical elements of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Organize and analyze information, employing creative and adaptive approaches to overcome sales obstacles.
- Demonstrate comfort and effectiveness within a dynamic technical organization with a rapidly growing partner and customer base.
- Provide high availability to Sales and cross-functional teams, making a measurable impact on sales and product development within your region, and contributing to SE Team enablement.
- Act as a dynamic contributor on both Sales and SE Team internal communication channels.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales technical role, customer success, or customer/product support capacity (e.g., Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Solutions Engineer).
- Ability to influence stakeholders through technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management.
- Proficiency in explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Previous experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations.
- Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, and automation and control systems.
- Working knowledge of various integration standards and transports (XML, REST, SOAP, EDI, etc.).
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs between SaaS applications.
- Exposure to various SaaS-based integrations.
- Must be located within and authorized to work in the United States.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor of Science degree or advanced education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Work experience in task automation scripting and data transfer between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent languages.
- Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs.
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
- Hobbyist interest in working with electronic systems (e.g., car audio installation/restoration, home automation, projects with Raspberry Pi or Arduino).
- Consistent track record of success selling complex technical solutions through strategic sales cycles.
What We Offer
- Competitive Compensation: Annual On-Target Earnings (OTE) range of $121,975—$184,500 USD. OTE may vary based on factors such as location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
