About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Chief Steward, Assistant Chief Steward, and/or Duty Chef, the Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and its equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for all china, glassware, silverware, pots, and cooking utensils.
- Ensure all kitchen floors are kept dry and clean at all times.
- Operate industrial dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment in accordance with safety standards and procedures.
- Sort, stack, and store clean kitchenware and equipment.
- Identify and remove any breakages or chipped items from circulation, ensuring they are recorded.
- Accurately measure and use detergents and sanitizers.
- Properly utilize personal protective equipment, including gloves, aprons, and eyewear.
- Restock all kitchen areas with necessary china, glassware, silverware, pots, and cooking utensils.
- Manage and remove garbage from the kitchen area.
- Adhere strictly to all department policies, procedures, service standards, and Health & Safety guidelines.
- Follow all Health & Safety training and protocols, including those related to epidemic situations, as established by Accor, local government, international bodies (WHO, CDC).
- Perform any other assigned duties within the department as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic sanitary guidelines is an asset.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven excellent work ethic and attendance record.
- Ability to work cohesively within a diverse team environment.
- Capacity to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to maintain focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous.
Physical Aspects of the Position
- Constant standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
