About the Role
Synovus is seeking a dedicated Financial Specialist to serve as the consumer and small business lending expert within a traditional bank branch. In this mid-level role, you will be instrumental in consulting with customers to understand and prioritize their financial needs, deepening relationships, and identifying opportunities for growth. You will also act as a key point of contact for risk mitigation and fraud prevention, while providing leadership and coaching to branch team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with consumer and small business customers to identify, understand, and prioritize their financial needs, offering appropriate product solutions and connecting them with internal partners.
- Support the Branch Retail Market Manager (RMM) in managing branch operations, ensuring overall branch success, including profitability, sales targets, customer experience, and team development.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a diverse loan portfolio, including consumer, small business, and real estate loan programs.
- Proactively pursue new business opportunities, identify, retain, and deepen customer relationships, and develop prospective clients and centers of influence.
- Collaborate with business partners across various segments to develop comprehensive banking relationships.
- Maintain a consistent deposit and loan pipeline, develop referral sources, and meet individual performance goals while supporting branch and company objectives.
- Participate in daily activities, sales meetings, and training sessions, championing products and sharing sales insights.
- Open and service accounts, interview loan applicants, and may process and close loans, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure operational integrity of the branch, monitor team compliance with regulations and policies, and protect branch assets by managing credit quality and minimizing losses.
- Adhere to ethical practices, promote a positive and collaborative team environment, and comply with all communications and directives.
- Model Synovus' culture and values, supporting team member engagement and fostering a positive work culture.
- Manage coaching, development, and performance of team members, communicating key information regarding bank policies, procedures, products, and services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of successful sales or customer service experience with defined goals and accountabilities, and proficiency in consumer loan processing; OR three years of job-specific experience in a Relationship Banker role with proficiency in consumer loan processing.
- Extensive knowledge of bank services and products.
- Aptitude for consultative selling.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and deepen customer relationships.
- Knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong listening skills and positive communication abilities.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products.
