Retail Market Director (Remote)
APTIM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Market Director to drive growth and support our Retail, Logistics, and Hospitality market segment. This executive-level, permanent, remote position offers a significant opportunity to advance your career and make a tangible impact on APTIM's market growth strategies. You will work closely with clients to implement solutions in areas such as sustainability, zero waste, energy management, compliance, permitting, and site assessment and remediation. We are looking for an individual with strong existing relationships within the retail sector, including grocery, home improvement, automotive, department stores, big box, and pharmacy/medical.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Achieve annual sales goals and customer relationship management (CRM) sales pipeline targets.
- Track sales goals using CRM software (Salesforce) and generate internal reports for the sales incentive program.
- Leverage existing client relationships to secure new business for APTIM within an agreed-upon timeline.
- Develop and prepare compelling proposals, strategize, and create capture plans for new client pursuits and existing client retention/growth.
- Support the identification and hiring of subject matter experts to enhance APTIM's capabilities and competitive advantage.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategic market and business plans, providing leadership to expand APTIM's Environmental Solutions service offerings with existing and new clients.
- Create marketing collateral and branding materials to support retail market growth.
- Monitor and communicate market conditions, innovations, trends, technologies, and competitor strategies to optimize APTIM's competitive position.
- Participate in technical seminars, industry events, and trade shows to expand market penetration.
- Actively present APTIM's capabilities to customers.
Project Leadership
- As a Seller-Doer, directly influence revenue, profitability, cash flow, and repeat business by developing client relationships and leading teams in delivering quality consulting services.
- Assist with all aspects of project start-up, including planning, staffing, budgeting, task creation, and staff direction.
- Manage projects and clients through the initial ramp-up phase.
- Support Retail Client Account Managers in expanding service offerings within existing retail accounts by facilitating internal account reviews and participating in client meetings.
- Lead internal Retail Market team communications, including monthly meetings and participation in APTIM's Annual Retail Summit.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in environmental engineering, health & safety, consulting, sustainability, climate change, zero waste, or energy management.
- 5+ years of experience working in or supporting the retail industry.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a self-starter, organized, and able to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Tangible and documented project management experience.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software.
- Experience and confidence in growing business in a dynamic market, preferably within retail, logistics, and hospitality.
- Strong business acumen with deep industry relationships.
