About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accounting Manager to lead and develop our accounting team. This role is responsible for owning the month-end close process for operational expenses, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will collaborate closely with the broader accounting organization.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a technically proficient accountant with deep expertise in accrual accounting, prepaid assets, and fixed asset capitalization. You will lead the Accounts Payable (AP) team, motivating them to achieve high standards, and serve as the primary expert for operational expense accounting. You will manage direct reports and oversee AP operations across our technology stack, including NetSuite, Ramp, and Navan.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end close process for operational expenses, including detailed vendor expense analyses, accrual schedules, prepaid expenses, fixed assets (ASC 360), and lease accounting (ASC 842).
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and perform flux analyses.
- Partner with the Technical Accounting team to implement new accounting guidance and policies into the close process.
- Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports, setting clear expectations and supporting their professional growth.
- Establish and maintain team workflows, desk procedures, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Oversee the end-to-end AP process, including invoice intake and coding, purchase order matching, vendor onboarding, payment runs, and vendor statement reconciliations.
- Manage the corporate card program (Ramp) and corporate travel program (Navan), ensuring policy compliance, reviewing transactions, and acting as an escalation point for employee inquiries.
- Maintain a strong internal controls environment over AP and the expense close, including SOX controls.
- Act as a power user for NetSuite, Ramp, and Navan, optimizing workflows, configurations, and reporting.
- Support external audits and respond to other operational requests.
- Ensure compliance with company expense policies and support tax-related AP requirements, such as 1099 preparation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2-3+ years in a people management role, with experience managing individual contributors and team leads or managers.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, including accrual accounting, prepaid assets, fixed asset capitalization (ASC 360), and lease accounting (ASC 842).
- Proficiency in NetSuite; experience with Ramp and/or Navan is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Public accounting experience and experience in a public company, SaaS, or technology industry are preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while leading a team.
What We Offer
- Base compensation range: $150,000 - $170,000 USD.
- Potential for a performance-based bonus.
- Equity options.
- A generous benefits program.
