Associate Product Development Engineer
Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a motivated Associate Product Development Engineer to join our Product Development & Innovation team. This role is based in North Olmsted, OH, and offers a hybrid work model with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About the Role
As an Associate Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in improving existing product designs to enhance robustness and cost-effectiveness, applying engineering best practices. You will also contribute to defining product platform designs and development processes from ideation through launch. Utilizing analytical and empirical engineering methods, you will ensure product designs meet all user, business, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative new products and extend current product lines.
- Collaborate with team members to develop capable and cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes concurrently with product design.
- Conduct problem-solving and failure analysis using engineering analysis tools.
- Actively participate in Design Reviews, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) for new products.
- Compile, prepare, and present data for project updates and technical presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with 3D modeling CAD software.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative design culture.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- A proactive desire to work hands-on, prototype, and troubleshoot.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior co-op or internship experience.
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or 3DX software.
- Exposure to Failure Analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design for Robustness (DRBFM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), and DFMA.
- Ability to apply engineering principles (fluid, mechanical, thermal).
- Experience interpreting statistics related to manufacturing processes and part design.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with tolerance stack-up and analysis.
