Backed by leading investors, we are a growing team of builders, sellers, and industry veterans dedicated to bringing modern technology to an often-overlooked industry.
About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist at Rundoo, you will own data science end-to-end. You will translate ambiguous business questions into clear scopes, deliver robust analyses on predictable timelines, and build lightweight internal systems to ensure insights are reproducible. You will act as a thought partner to leaders across Go-To-Market (GTM), Product, and Finance, shaping the direction of analysis and proactively identifying anomalies and opportunities as the business scales. This is a remote role, reporting directly to the Head of Data Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-trust analysis with clear timelines, ensuring assumptions and limitations are explicit.
- Translate business problems into analytical requirements, defining metrics and data contracts.
- Build and maintain internal decision systems and workflows for reproducible and maintainable insights.
- Partner with GTM teams to translate analysis into actionable strategies, such as prospecting lists and experimentation.
- Proactively identify and surface anomalies, broken assumptions, or misallocated spend.
- Support fundraising readiness by contributing to a credible and evergreen data pool and reporting infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, applied machine learning, or machine learning engineering in a high-growth environment.
- Strong foundation in applied analytics, including statistics, experimentation, causal thinking, and forecasting.
- Demonstrated ability to scope ambiguous problems and drive decisions with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in writing production-quality code, particularly in Python, and building maintainable internal systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, tradeoffs, assumptions, and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
- High degree of ownership and autonomy, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Points
- Experience partnering closely with Sales/GTM teams on areas like pipeline, conversion, pricing, prospecting, and territories.
- Experience building internal analytics tooling on cloud infrastructure, with an understanding of reliability and maintainability best practices.
- Experience in early-stage startups or building "version 1" systems that scale.
- Strong structured systems thinking and the ability to defend or revise approaches under scrutiny.
Location
- Remote friendly.
- Expect approximately one week of travel per quarter to our offices in Chicago or Redwood City.
