Join us in revolutionizing plant protection from seed to harvest.

About the Role

Syngenta in Portugal is seeking a dedicated Country Regulatory Manager (CRM) to oversee the full registration lifecycle for our crop protection product portfolio. Reporting to the Regulatory Head Portugal, this hands-on role is crucial in bridging Syngenta's European regulatory strategy with national authorities in Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and submission of registration, re-registration, and extension applications for crop protection products in Portugal, ensuring compliance with EU and national requirements.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across product labels, databases, and registration records (including active substances, production sites, packaging, and co-formulants).
  • Coordinate national-specific regulatory actions such as minor uses, emergency registrations, and label extensions.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to the commercial business, advising on trends, portfolio risks, and competitive landscape changes in Portugal.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national authorities (DGAV, DGE, DGS) and evaluation experts from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, and Environment.
  • Collaborate with European Regulatory and Submission teams, Product Safety, and country commercial colleagues to align priorities and achieve business objectives.
  • Support the Field Force with regulatory guidance and serve as a specialist resource in assigned regulatory focus areas.

Requirements

  • Degree in Agronomic Science or a relevant scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, specifically for plant protection products.
  • Solid understanding of EU and Portuguese regulatory frameworks for crop protection.
  • Fluency in English (required) and Portuguese (expected). Additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to critically assess, read, and summarize complex scientific data.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience navigating both internal teams and government authorities.
  • A proactive mindset, capable of anticipating regulatory shifts and addressing potential issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and a delivery-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple dossiers and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency with regulatory and standard office IT tools.

What We Offer

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours to support a healthy balance between personal and professional life.
  • Hybrid Work Model: A hybrid approach with 2-3 days per week required at the office.
  • Trust and Autonomy: An environment that fosters freedom, trust, and responsibility for team growth and potential.

You will have the autonomy to manage your portfolio, the support of a strong European network, and the opportunity to shape how our products reach Portuguese farmers. Our office is located in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, with pleasant views of the River Tejo.
