About Leap
Leap is a rapidly growing benefits solution and a pioneer in employer specialty pharmacy. We are transforming how life-changing therapies are delivered and financed, ensuring patients receive the treatments they need while employers benefit from fair pricing. Specialty drugs represent a significant and growing cost for employers, and Leap addresses this challenge by eliminating hidden markups, expanding access to high-quality infusion providers, and bringing transparency and fairness to therapy pricing. We are proud to partner with numerous Fortune 500 companies and leading TPAs, delivering immediate ROI through lower costs, improved access, and better patient care. Join us as we redefine what's possible in specialty care.
About The Role
We are seeking Leap's Founding Designer to define how Leap connects with patients and their families. This is a unique opportunity to shape the experience for individuals navigating complex, high-cost therapies during stressful and critical moments. Your primary focus will be on Member Growth, creating campaigns and communications that introduce Leap, build trust, and guide users toward the next steps. Beyond growth, you will own the end-to-end patient-facing experience, from discovery and understanding options to scheduling care, preparing for treatment, and ongoing engagement.
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You will map patient journeys, gather insights from care teams, and design user-facing assets such as landing pages, direct mail concepts, and reusable design patterns. While you won't be expected to be a copywriter, researcher, product manager, or front-end developer, you will collaborate closely with these disciplines, leveraging strong user judgment, excellent design taste, clear communication, and modern production fluency.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Define Leap's Patient-Facing Design Standard: Shape Leap's brand presence across marketing, onboarding, education, therapy support, and reactivation, ensuring a coherent, credible, human, and actionable experience.
- Design the End-to-End Member Journey: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address points of confusion, skepticism, or drop-off in the patient journey, creating clearer, lower-friction experiences from awareness to reactivation.
- Build Scalable Design Systems: Develop reusable patterns, components, templates, QA processes, and production standards for web, email, direct mail, print, and educational materials.
- Drive Member Activation through Creative: Design high-performing direct-response campaigns across various channels, with a focus on clarity, trust, conversion, and action.
- Simplify Healthcare Complexity: Translate nuanced, sensitive, and complex healthcare information into understandable and responsible experiences without oversimplifying or creating anxiety.
- Act as a Creative Lead and Maker: Guide visual systems, refine messaging, coordinate with creative partners, and produce polished, production-ready assets.
What We’re Looking For
- Broad Design Experience with Strong Patient/Customer Judgment: Proven ability to simplify complexity, reduce friction, build trust, and guide users through significant decisions, particularly in lifecycle marketing, member engagement, or patient education.
- Product, UX, and Research Acumen: Skills in journey mapping, information architecture, user flow design, user research, pattern identification, and translating insights into improved experiences.
- Direct-Response and Growth Design Expertise: Experience designing creative assets with measurable outcomes in conversion, activation, enrollment, or lead generation.
- Excellent Visual Design and Message Hierarchy: A clean, thoughtful, and disciplined approach to visual design, with a strong understanding of typography, layout, imagery, and narrative to drive action.
- Systems Thinking: Ability to create reusable patterns, templates, and workflows that enhance creative coherence, scalability, and efficiency.
- Print, Digital, and Modern Production Fluency: Proficiency in producing assets for direct mail, landing pages, email, and other channels, including QA processes and vendor collaboration. Familiarity with contemporary design tools and AI in creative workflows.
- Comfort Directing External Talent: Experience briefing, managing, and reviewing work from agencies and contractors.
- High Agency, Low Ego, and Comfort with Ambiguity: Ability to structure ambiguous problems, move quickly, articulate decisions, incorporate feedback, and design within regulated and sensitive environments.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in healthcare, benefits, insurance, pharmacy, financial services, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Customer.io, Braze).
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and email/landing page constraints.
- Experience with motion graphics, illustration, or digital ad production.
- Experience building or improving creative workflows, design systems, or AI-assisted
