Consultran, a trucking compliance business established in 1973, is seeking its first technical hire: a senior-level Full-Stack Developer to serve as "Builder-in-Chief." This role is crucial for transitioning the company's systems further into the digital age, moving beyond initial proofs-of-concept to own the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with the client service team to identify operational friction points, design solutions, and leverage AI agents to execute builds, ensuring high code quality and security.

The Stack & Your Technical Role

You will be instrumental in shaping the future of Consultran's technology stack. While you won't write every line of code, you must be proficient in validating, refactoring, and securing AI-generated code. The current ecosystem includes:

• Core Applications: Ruby on Rails, Laravel, and Express/React.
• Data & Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, various hosting platforms (Render, DigitalOcean), and no-code/low-code integrations (Airtable, Zapier, Make).
• Agent Orchestration: Utilizing tools like Claude, Cursor, and Codex to ship features efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Deep-Dives: Embed with compliance teams (IFTA reporting, IRP Renewals, FMCSA Operating Authority) to understand workflows and identify areas for improvement.
• Incremental Development: Focus on shipping valuable features quickly, prioritizing practical solutions over lengthy perfectionist pursuits.
• System Design: Collaborate on designing robust data models, scalable architectures, and API integrations.
• User Interface Design: Create usable and accessible frontends that enhance the user experience.
• Testing & Deployment: Own the testing suite, ensuring AI-generated code is maintainable and effectively solves business problems before production deployment.
• Technical Documentation: Maintain high-quality, up-to-date technical documentation for efficient maintenance and enhancements.

About You

• Proven track record of shipping production-grade software.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Experience developing deep domain knowledge in previous roles.
• Comfortable working across different technologies (Rails, Laravel, Python) as needed, even with personal preferences.
• A tinkerer's mindset with a bias for shipping, balanced with the discipline to protect core data.
