About the Role
Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their Accounting & Finance team. This role will be responsible for leading aspects of the accounting function at the Corporate entity, which provides Shared Services to various Brands within the Client network. Shared Services encompasses Accounting, Financial Operations (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll), Business Applications, IT, and Real Estate.
The Accounting Manager will perform management reporting functions for the client, supporting various corporate and business initiatives. This position reports to the Client Brand Controller and will provide monthly financial results analysis to each head of Shared Services functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations for general ledger accounting areas.
- Liaise and assist Accounts Receivable, Billing, Accounts Payable, and Finance departments with various inquiries.
- Review monthly close entries prepared by staff, including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, deferred rent, and AMEX entries.
- Oversee accounting staff to ensure timely close and reporting deadlines are met.
- Review balance sheet account reconciliations and prepare general ledger account analyses by reviewing transactions for accuracy.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Prepare and review audit schedules as assigned, conduct audit research, and answer related questions.
- Assist with preparing year-end tax schedules.
- Oversee the intercompany reconciliation process.
- Support month-end ancillary package preparation and Hyperion trial balance uploads.
- Serve as a backup for various areas within the Shared Service Department.
- Assist with ad hoc requests as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 5-7 years of accounting experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing an accounting team.
- Strong technical accounting skills, including knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and SEC accounting and disclosure requirements, with proficiency in researching accounting literature.
- Proven experience with consolidations and strong experience with intercompany eliminations.
- Ability to reconcile accounts and perform general ledger analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills required (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, SUMIF, Pivot Tables).
- Experience with large ERP and Accounting Software is preferred (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Intacct, NetSuite, Maconomy).
- CPA (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Ability to set priorities, multi-task, meet critical deadlines, and pay close attention to detail.
- Highly organized and motivated self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Located in Latin America.
- Fluent English level.
