Job Description

Entry-Level Communications Specialist (Remote, EMEA)

Canonical is seeking a passionate and driven Entry-Level Communications Specialist to join our dynamic team. This remote role, based in the EMEA region, offers a unique opportunity to shape and amplify our brand presence in the global tech landscape. If you're excited about open source, technology marketing, and engaging with vibrant online communities, this is the role for you.

About the Role

As an Entry-Level Communications Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and growing Canonical's social media presence. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between our product teams and our global audience, fostering engagement, and driving conversations around Ubuntu and our innovative open-source solutions. This position reports to the Director of Communications and is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, learning-oriented environment with a focus on ownership and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content and campaigns across various social media channels.
  • Analyze and report on social media metrics, content performance, and campaign results.
  • Support the growth and nurturing of Canonical's social media audiences, aiming to increase engagement rates and valuable actions.
  • Develop compelling copywriting and creative assets that align with brand messaging and drive audience action.
  • Execute A/B and multivariate growth tests to optimize social media strategies.
  • Engage directly with the audience through platform and community moderation.
  • Promote integrated campaigns, product launches, webinar series, industry announcements, and core content.
  • Creatively package Canonical's product offerings and educational materials, from AI and Kubernetes to diversity and CSR initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience managing social media platforms for tech brands, ideally within a content team or marketing agency.
  • Hands-on knowledge of social media management tools and an understanding of web analytics tools.
  • Proficiency with at least four social media platforms, including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit.
  • An analytical mindset with a strong sense for content performance across different platforms and objectives.
  • Experience with educational content funnels and utilizing video as a core social media marketing asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships across diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong foundation in content marketing.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, differentiate importance, and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events.

What We Offer

  • A fully remote working environment – we have been a remote-first company since 2004.
  • A personal learning and development budget of $2,000 USD per annum.
  • Annual compensation review.
  • Recognition rewards.
  • Annual holiday leave and Parental Leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities to travel to new locations for team 'sprints'.
  • Priority Pass for travel and travel upgrades for long-haul company events.

Note: Base pay is determined by factors including geographical location, experience, knowledge, and skills. Additional benefits may apply depending on work location.
