Company: Autodesk Location: EMEA, UK (Hybrid) Contract: Permanent
About the Role
Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Data Model team is at the forefront of shaping how customers access, manage, and leverage their data throughout the project and asset lifecycle. We design the APIs, services, and user interfaces that power Autodesk’s data platform ecosystem, enabling critical AEC workflows.
As a Senior Experience Designer – AEC Platform Data, you will collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, User Research, and Design partners to define and drive the experience strategy for complex, data-driven platform products. You will play a key role in shaping how customers and developers interact with granular project and asset data, unlocking powerful new insights and fostering more connected workflows across Autodesk’s ecosystem.
We are seeking a designer who is a strong advocate for human-centered design, a creative problem-solver, and an impactful facilitator. This role is ideal for someone passionate about crafting world-class platform experiences within technically complex and ambiguous problem spaces.
This position is hybrid, allowing for predominantly remote work with occasional opportunities to connect with the wider team in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, engineers, user researchers, and designers to define and deliver exceptional experiences from concept to implementation.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure design work aligns with adjacent products and platform initiatives.
- Visualize and prototype solutions at various fidelity levels, from high-level wireframes to interactive, testable prototypes.
- Rapidly develop and validate experience concepts through internal reviews and direct user feedback.
- Facilitate and participate in design thinking workshops, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional working sessions.
- Apply and contribute to design system standards to ensure consistency and cohesion across platform experiences.
- Lead design presentations and discussions with diverse stakeholders.
- Maintain close contact with users through interviews, field research, and events, translating insights into improved experiences.
- Research user interface trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on data-centric user experiences.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in user experience design and user research.
- Demonstrated experience designing complex B2B or technical platform products.
- Strong understanding of AEC customer workflows and experience designing for BIM and 3D applications.
- Experience with complex data management concepts and related experience design patterns.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- A portfolio showcasing enterprise UX case studies.
- Strong facilitation skills and comfort working in complex, ambiguous technical environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and reframe challenges optimistically.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or working with AI-supported tools and workflows, and familiarity with emerging AI concepts.
- First-hand experience across the AEC project lifecycle and with Autodesk tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Forma.
- Experience auditing, integrating, or optimizing existing user experiences.
- Working knowledge of platform concepts such as SDKs and APIs.
