Mindrift is seeking skilled Optical Engineers to join our network of specialists contributing to AI training projects for leading technology companies. This is a project-based freelance opportunity, not permanent employment, focused on testing, evaluating, and improving AI systems.

About the Role

As a Freelance AI Trainer, you will play a crucial role in developing and refining AI models by creating challenging and realistic problems. Your expertise in optics and physics will be instrumental in simulating real-world research workflows and ensuring the AI can handle complex scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

While project tasks vary, you may be involved in:

• Designing original optics problems that simulate real physics research workflows.
• Ensuring problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes.
• Developing problems requiring non-trivial reasoning chains in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
• Basing problems on real research challenges or practical applications from optics and physics practice.
• Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified correct answers.

Requirements

This opportunity is ideal for optical engineers seeking part-time, non-permanent projects. We are looking for candidates with:

• A degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience (applied, research, or teaching experience is applicable).
• Experience with numerical simulation methods.
• The ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows.
• Creative thinking in problem design across diverse physics areas.
• Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques.
• Strong written English proficiency (C1+).
