About the Role

Samsara is seeking a motivated Pricing & Revenue Planner to join our Worldwide Planning team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, Product, R&D, and other revenue-generating teams. Your primary responsibilities will include shaping our pricing strategies, understanding customer willingness to pay, and tracking revenue performance against expectations. You will analyze deal-related impacts, provide market insights on customer trends, evaluate discounting assumptions, and offer subject matter expertise to executive stakeholders. Additionally, you will manage CFO-level reporting on key company metrics such as variable costs, product mix, and hardware-related profitability drivers.

We are looking for curious individuals with experience in SaaS pricing analytics and benchmarking, who can drive new processes and tools, and translate complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage pricing analytics, forecasting average sales prices, and discounting levels by product group, geography, and sales segment to bridge unit forecasts and revenue targets.
  • Generate and own financial cost reporting metrics, including hardware cash flow, projected spend, warranty expense, and excess & obsolescence risk, in partnership with finance and accounting teams.
  • Synthesize data into actionable narratives and present findings to senior leadership across Operations, Finance, Sales, and Product.
  • Analyze customer and sales trends within product families, identifying opportunities for revenue and margin improvement.
  • Utilize technical expertise to efficiently gather new data, automate data processing, and implement best practices for data management.
  • Provide data and KPI access to the planning team through reports and dashboards, implementing business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) for data visualization and analytics.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Samsara’s business, products, and company priorities to support Demand Planners with insights on new programs/features, sales pacing, and conversion rates.
  • Drive improvements to the forecasting process by developing rigorous analyses using historical data and in-depth business knowledge, adapting the forecast model as needed.
  • Identify key insights and trends driving company hardware costs, sharing findings with stakeholders to identify areas for continued improvement in company growth and profitability.
  • Champion and embody Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant analytical field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science).
  • 8+ years (or 6+ with a Master's degree) of combined experience in finance, consulting, supply chain planning, demand planning, business planning, and/or data analytics.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify key drivers of variances and clearly articulate assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize information into digestible formats for diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure problems, focus on detail and accuracy, and respond creatively and flexibly to issues.
  • Ability to define best practices for data collection, translate data into insights, and drive impact.
  • Proven history of collaboration across technical and non-technical teams with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic business thinker focused on achieving desired outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs.

An Ideal Candidate Also Has

  • Experience with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), supply chain finance, or financial reporting.
  • Industry experience in SaaS-based technology companies.
  • Prior experience using NetSuite, Salesforce, and e2open.
  • Proficiency with applied SQL/data querying languages, BI/visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, PowerBI), Excel/Google Sheets, R, Python, or other analysis tools.
