Pfizer is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Medical Affairs Advisor / Medical Affairs Manager to join our Internal Medicine team in the UK. This is a permanent, onsite role focused on bridging the gap between Pfizer and the healthcare community through scientific exchange and support.

About the Role

This position is responsible for providing expert medical and scientific guidance to internal teams, ensuring the appropriate use of Pfizer medicines and the successful implementation of company initiatives. You will act as a key liaison with healthcare professionals, fostering relationships and facilitating the exchange of scientific information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnerships & Scientific Communication:
    • Provide specialist medical and scientific advice to internal teams.
    • Offer medical and scientific support to healthcare professionals and professional bodies.
    • Communicate and manage drug safety issues with healthcare professionals.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with leading healthcare professionals and key decision-makers.
    • Gather customer insights on current standards of care and the value of Pfizer medicines.
  • Data Generation & Publication:
    • Develop and maintain in-depth scientific knowledge of Pfizer medicines and competitor products within designated therapy areas.
    • Execute the medical plan for medical projects, Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR), and Pfizer-sponsored clinical research.
    • Support the generation of real-world evidence, non-interventional studies, and registries, ensuring timely data publication.
  • Clinical Development Support:
    • Provide medical and scientific input for clinical trial protocol feasibility assessments.
    • Identify suitable investigators and sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
    • Collaborate with clinical research colleagues to ensure the timely completion of trials.
    • Contribute to regional and global clinical teams to align trial design with UK needs.
    • Support the implementation of compassionate use and named patient supply programs.
  • Data Communication & Customer Insights:
    • Respond to unsolicited requests for information with accurate and balanced scientific data.
    • Provide scientific insight and support to commercial colleagues.
    • Collaborate on the development of compliant promotional and non-promotional materials.
    • Review and certify promotional and non-promotional materials in line with the ABPI Code of Practice.
    • Gather customer intelligence to shape strategy and identify business opportunities.
    • Manage local advisory boards to gain customer insights.
  • Cross-Functional Support:
    • Support Access & Value with medical input for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) dossiers and formularies.
    • Assist Regulatory Affairs with responses to regulatory agencies and product information updates.
    • Provide support to Medical Information to maintain an accurate database for customer inquiries.
    • Offer scientific input to other departments (e.g., Government Affairs, Communications) on a project basis.
    • Provide ABPI Code compliance support for customer engagement activities.
    • Develop and maintain cross-functional working relationships within Pfizer.

Qualifications

  • Metabolic medicine / obesity experience is required.
  • Proven experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Fluency in Business English.
  • A Medical, Pharmacy, or Science degree.
  • For medical applicants, GMC registration with a License to Practice is preferred.
  • For pharmacy applicants, UK registration is preferred.
  • For scientists, a postgraduate science degree (e.g., PhD, MSc) is preferred.
