About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join YipitData's legal team as Commercial Counsel for SpendHound. You will be a core contributor to the success of a fast-paced financial tech company, partnering closely with the SpendHound commercial teams to negotiate, execute, and close deals. You will play a key role in shaping the future of investment research by supporting a rapidly growing product.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop contract negotiation and drafting skills to facilitate deal closure.
- Guide commercial teams through the entire deal lifecycle, from initial contract or NDA negotiation to closing.
- Learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment by addressing new challenges and developing innovative contracting frameworks.
- Enhance processes, efficiency, and best practices, including contributing to the contract management platform and improving forms and processes with commercial teams.
- Collaborate with the SpendHound team to facilitate contract reviews and internal processes.
- Evaluate and advise on appropriate legal courses of action to meet business needs.
Requirements
- Law degree (JD or equivalent) from a top law school.
- License to practice law and in good standing in New York.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in-house, with a strong preference for drafting and negotiating business contracts.
- Excitement and determination to work on commercial contracts involving both legal and financial/commercial issues.
- Passion for drafting, negotiating, and redlining, with a desire to further develop these skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations, think creatively, and handle new responsibilities independently.
- SaaS background is a plus.

This role can be performed fully remotely within the United States. Please note that while our US headquarters are in NYC, with office hubs in Austin, Miami, and Mountain View, remote work performed outside these locations may be subject to New York State tax withholding.
