Apaleo is seeking a talented Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join their team and contribute to the future of hospitality technology. Apaleo offers the world's most open, API-first property management platform, designed to empower the next generation of hospitality operations.

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at Apaleo, you will play a crucial role in developing and extending backend services for their innovative platform. You will work with modern technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and extend backend services using .NET, running in Docker containers.
• Develop features end-to-end, encompassing database design, business logic, and RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to maintaining and enhancing the platform's scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Monitor production services and actively participate in identifying and resolving issues.
• Write clean, well-tested code, including unit and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other backend engineers in an agile team.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in independently delivering backend features end-to-end in a cloud environment.
• Solid experience with .NET / C# backend development.
• Hands-on experience with at least some of the following:
  • Relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Docker and basic containerized workflows
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Message-based or asynchronous systems (e.g., Kafka or equivalents)
• Familiarity with microservices concepts and API-driven architectures.
• Comfortable breaking down tasks, estimating work, and delivering features incrementally.
• Experience or interest in using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, CodeWhisperer).
• Fluent in English.

Nice to Have

• First experience with Kafka or other streaming/messaging systems.
• Exposure to Kubernetes / ECS or cloud-native DevOps practices.
• Basic experience with performance tuning or database optimizations.
• Experience working in SaaS or API-first products.
