Business Systems Analyst

Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing, dedicated to oncology, women’s health, and organ health. We are seeking a motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our software engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal business partners to enhance value through our software platforms, including Order Management, Content Management, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). You will support various business units such as laboratory operations, R&D, process development, customer support, genetic counseling, bioinformatics, and statistics.

About the Role

As a Business Systems Analyst, you will bring technical, business, and subject matter expertise to our development teams. You will work closely with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and Development Leads to configure systems, document business processes, define functional and non-functional requirements, create user training documentation, manage master data, and provide system governance.

A significant focus of this role will be on Natera's reporting systems. We provide genetic risk assessment and diagnostic tests, delivering dynamically customized results and interpretation reports to medical providers. These reports contain content managed by multiple internal groups, undergoing a rigorous development, review, and update process. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with structured content management systems within a healthcare environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Content and Template management systems, assessing content management needs and advising on system capabilities.
  • Create, update, and manage templates, guiding end-users on template structure, content fragment breakdown, and tagging for consistency.
  • Translate business, user, and clinical needs into clear product requirements, collaborating with technical teams to ensure dependencies are met.
  • Produce deliverables such as flow diagrams, data models, pros/cons analyses, prototypes, and wireframes to facilitate understanding and feedback.
  • Specify, prioritize, and communicate high-level and detailed requirements, adhering to agile methodology.
  • Evangelize products across the organization, drive requirements elaboration, and ensure desired positive impact, taking ownership of your work.
  • Build confidence with business partners by adding value to discussions, being responsive, and following through on action items.
  • Collaborate with business, architecture, and engineering teams to assess the value, usability, and feasibility of product features.
  • Assist in the creation and communication of product roadmaps and delivery schedules to stakeholders.
  • Incorporate a focus on quality into product design and work closely with development and software quality assurance teams on product and process improvements.
  • Solicit customer feedback and funnel new requirements and product changes back into software development.
  • Own and prioritize a feature backlog to align with the overall strategic roadmap.
  • Develop strong hands-on technical knowledge of software products, assisting with tasks ranging from configuration to testing and support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related major, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2+ years of direct experience with software product management.
  • Experience with Content Management and Content Repositories.
  • Experience with third-party software integration.
  • Experience in creating commercial software product requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in software development areas including:
    • API Requirements
    • Software product requirements
    • Software technical design
    • Software project management
    • Software Quality Assurance (QA)
    • JIRA or similar issue tracking systems
  • Familiarity with useful domain knowledge such as:
    • Structured Content Management Systems
    • Genetics and bioinformatics
    • Genomics data analysis
    • Laboratory processes and instrumentation
    • Laboratory software compliance requirements
  • Comfortable leading meetings and negotiating functionality with business partners across various positions and domains.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts in a simplified manner for different audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills for producing clear, concise, and correct technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose solutions for complex issues.
  • Ability to break down large projects into granular milestones and track progress.
