About the Design Team
Our Design team is a vibrant group of over 115 designers, researchers, and brand experts, led by our Chief Design Officer. Product Design is our largest discipline, with designers collaborating closely in squads alongside researchers, product managers, and engineers to solve real customer problems at scale. We focus on blending research, empathy, and craft to transform everyday financial interactions into memorable experiences. We are growing rapidly and are looking for passionate designers to help shape Monzo's future.
About the Role
As a Staff Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Monzo's product strategy and design vision. You will lead significant, end-to-end design projects in complex and ambiguous problem spaces, influencing strategic decisions and driving product excellence. This is a unique opportunity to make a substantial impact on our product and contribute to our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the long-term design vision and lead large, end-to-end design projects across broad product areas.
- Navigate tradeoffs and guide strategic decisions with a clear and informed perspective.
- Elevate the standard of design craft and product excellence at Monzo, setting a benchmark for quality and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to define and execute product strategies, translating them into actionable plans.
- Proactively identify and address systemic challenges to reduce complexity and improve team efficiency.
- Act as a visible ambassador for Design within the company, sharing your work and its impact.
- Mentor and develop designers across the discipline, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and belonging.
Requirements
- Expertise in your craft with deep knowledge in a specific design discipline and strong foundational skills across all areas of product design.
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact design work that drives customer outcomes, influences key metrics, and achieves commercial goals.
- Excellent visual, UI, and interaction design skills, with the ability to tackle complex interaction design challenges.
- A curious mindset, eager to continuously develop your craft and learn about new tools, ways of working, and technologies.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, leading teams to deliver in complex, fast-changing environments while maintaining high quality standards.
- Strategic thinking capabilities to shape product direction and translate organizational goals into actionable plans.

The application process consists of three key steps:
- A 30-minute call with a Recruiter.
- A 1-hour craft interview where you will present a case study.
- Two 45-minute interviews covering Leadership & Values and Strategy & Impact.
