About the Role

The Senior Assistant ARFF is responsible for responding to a range of emergencies within the airport premises, including aircraft and structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, crew, and airport personnel through effective firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response:
    • Promptly respond to aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergency situations on airport property.
    • Perform firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services to ensure the safety of individuals and property.
  • Fire Suppression:
    • Extinguish fires using various firefighting techniques and agents.
    • Conduct search and rescue operations in hazardous environments.
  • Emergency Medical Services:
    • Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS) until advanced medical personnel arrive.
    • Assist in patient transportation to medical facilities.
  • Operational Readiness:
    • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of firefighting vehicles, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Maintain inventory of firefighting supplies and ensure readiness for use.
    • Participate in emergency response simulations, ICAO-mandated training, and fire drills.
    • Maintain detailed incident reports, training records, and shift logs.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Adhere to all relevant regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Identify and report potential hazards during patrols and inspections.
    • Prepare and submit accurate incident reports and other required documentation.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with airport operations, medical services, and external emergency agencies during incidents.
    • Coordinate with the Duty Manager, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and airport authorities during emergency operations.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification from an accredited firefighting academy.
  • 2-3 years of firefighting experience, preferably in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) operations.
  • Proficiency in firefighting, emergency response, rescue operations, and medical services.
  • Ability to maintain detailed incident reporting.
