Director of Finance (Remote)
Tremendous is a global platform trusted by over 20,000 organizations to send thousands of payouts worldwide. We are a profitable, fast-growing, and fully remote company with a culture that prioritizes documentation and minimizes meetings, allowing for a better work-life balance.
About the Role
As the Director of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Tremendous's financial strategy and operations. This executive-level position offers a unique opportunity to build and lead the finance function in a dynamic, high-growth environment. You will be instrumental in creating external financial narratives, owning financial planning and analysis (FP&A), supporting deal structuring, and driving forecasting and planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- External Financial Storytelling: Develop and package the company's business model and financials for external stakeholders, including potential partners and acquirers, leveraging your investment banking expertise.
- FP&A Ownership: Oversee and maintain detailed financial models, accurately reflecting complex revenue streams. Collaborate with Finance and Data teams to document assumptions, outputs, and scenarios rigorously and clearly.
- Deal Desk Support: Assist in structuring and pricing complex enterprise deals, working cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and Product to ensure financial soundness and strategic alignment.
- Forecasting and Planning: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and defensible financial forecasts, automating processes where possible.
- Data Analysis and Optimization: Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities, applying curiosity and analytical rigor.
- Team and Function Building: As the company grows, build out the finance team and establish best practices for financial operations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking, with a proven ability to build complex financial models, craft compelling financial narratives, and think strategically about businesses.
- At least 4 years of experience in finance roles at growth-stage startups, ideally including experience in FinTech. You should have led finance teams and owned FP&A models in fast-paced environments, comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
- Demonstrated involvement in transactions exceeding $100 million, including at least one investment or acquisition of this scale.
- Experience in deal structuring, including pricing and structuring complex enterprise deals, preferably in a B2B context.
- A strong passion for building and refining financial models, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Natural curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a drive to explore data and uncover insights.
- Experience with Runway for FP&A is preferred.
- A "low ego, high impact" mindset, willing to execute tasks directly.
What We Offer
- Impactful Work: Focus on actual financial planning and analysis without the need for "board theater," as Tremendous is profitable and privately held.
- Intellectually Stimulating Environment: Engage with a complex and multi-faceted business model that presents unique intellectual challenges.
- Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $220,000 to $280,000, plus equity.
- Comprehensive Benefits: 100% covered health insurance (US), unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO), and 12-16 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Fully Remote: Work from anywhere within the Americas.
- Strong Culture: Join a team with a great culture, detailed in our public handbook.
