Data Analyst - Consumer Goods Sector
Company: YipitData Location: USA (Remote within the US) Seniority: Senior Work Model: Onsite (with remote flexibility) Contract: Permanent Industry: Consulting
About YipitData
YipitData is a premier market research and analytics firm specializing in the disruptive economy. We leverage proprietary technology to analyze billions of alternative data points, generating actionable insights across diverse sectors including Consumer Goods, AI & Software, Cloud, and Payments. Our data empowers leading investment funds and Fortune 500 companies to make critical, high-stakes decisions.
We foster a global presence with offices in the US, APAC, and India. Our people-centric culture, recognized by Inc. as a Best Workplace for three consecutive years, is built on principles of transparency, ownership, and continuous mastery.
What It's Like to Work Here
- Real Ownership: Analysts have the opportunity to own data products end-to-end, from methodology development to client delivery, and even present directly to investors.
- Impact-Driven Growth: Advancement is based on demonstrated impact, not tenure. Your scope and responsibilities will expand as quickly as you are ready.
- AI Integration: Artificial intelligence is a core working tool, integrated into our processes to enhance analytical work through agents, automation, and new tooling.
About the Role
Join our Consumer Goods sector team, the largest at YipitData. This team focuses on major retailers and brands, tracking US consumer behavior and pricing to provide investors with insights into spending trends, market share shifts, and competitive dynamics.
This role is distinct from a traditional Data Analyst position. While you will gain familiarity with existing products, methodologies, and processes, the primary focus is on innovation and expanding our offerings. In close collaboration with the Sector Head and Research Lead, you will:
- Identify and build new product types and research opportunities: Discover novel ways to utilize our data to answer key client questions, potentially through new methodologies, exploration of third-party datasets, or creation of new analytical frameworks.
- Expand into new use cases and client segments: Extend our consumer goods data to serve new markets, such as Macro investors.
- Drive strategic impact: Partner with Research to shape the sector's roadmap, proactively surface opportunities, and ensure innovative work translates into client value.
- Elevate team standards: As a senior individual contributor, you will naturally raise the bar for junior analysts through your technical rigor, collaborative approach, and the example you set.
This is an ideal role for individuals who thrive on building new solutions in ambiguous environments, rather than maintaining established product portfolios. You will be client-adjacent, deeply involved in the strategic direction of a high-impact sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Own high-impact data products end-to-end: Drive product success by delivering accurate, client-focused, and efficient outputs with minimal oversight.
- Analyze massive datasets: Answer critical client questions about companies and datasets, developing deep expertise in proprietary methods and techniques.
- Tackle complex data problems independently: Utilize strong analytical judgment to refine methodologies, test new datasets, and solve challenges requiring innovative thinking, even with incomplete information.
- Leverage AI and tooling: Significantly increase speed, reduce manual work, and automate workflows, while maintaining high standards for correctness and quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Research, Engineering, and other teams to unblock work, align on best practices, and develop technical solutions.
- Drive Product and Strategic Impact: Identify opportunities for product improvement, develop new methodologies, explore new datasets, and enhance client value, connecting technical work to business outcomes.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in data analytics, with a background in financial services, management consulting, data science, or high-growth technology.
- Expert fluency in SQL.
- Experience with Python or PySpark, including building reliable, reusable analysis workflows.
- Proven ability to quickly learn complex data methodologies and build strong mental models of data.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders, driving alignment and delivering outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and influence cross-functional partners.
- Enthusiasm for using AI tools to drive significant improvements in work processes.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive Benefits: Flexible work hours, flexible vacation, generous 401K match, parental leave, team events, wellness budget, and learning reimbursement.
- Growth and Development: An environment focused on ownership, respect, and trust, where growth is driven by impact and continuous learning.
- Competitive Compensation:
- Anticipated annual base compensation: $165,000 - $
