We lead integrated marketing efforts for our New Verticals (NV) business, aiming to build category awareness, drive trial, and cultivate lasting customer habits.
Within this team, the Habituation role is crucial for driving growth by helping new customers establish consistent ordering habits within our New Verticals. We achieve this through insightful storytelling, strategic cross-channel media, and close collaboration with product and pricing teams to enhance retention and demonstrate value across all NV categories.
About the Role
As an Associate Manager, Consumer Integrated Marketing – New Verticals Habituation, you will be instrumental in developing strategies that deepen customer engagement and drive retention for DoorDash's New Verticals (Grocery, Alcohol, Retail, and Convenience). You will craft audience-first, insight-driven strategies and create go-to-market plans that encompass both on- and off-platform channels. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Integrated Marketing, this role will identify, test, and scale habituation opportunities to encourage consumers to explore new categories and increase Monthly Active Users (MAU).
This position offers a unique blend of marketing strategy across product marketing, growth marketing, and lifecycle strategy, providing the opportunity to shape both new initiatives and scaled programs that deliver significant business impact. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Product, Strategy & Operations, Finance, and Analytics to build integrated strategies that influence customer behavior throughout the entire funnel.
What You Will Do
- Lead the Habituation Vision: Collaborate with the Senior Manager to define the strategy, goals, and roadmap for driving repeat engagement and communicating DoorDash's value proposition across New Verticals.
- Drive Integrated Go-to-Market Planning: Develop and execute full-funnel marketing campaigns across paid, owned, earned, and in-app channels to foster growth.
- Champion the Customer: Gain a deep understanding of consumer motivations and barriers, translating these insights to inform marketing and product roadmaps.
- Foster Cross-Functional Partnerships: Act as a central point of contact within marketing, collaborating with Brand, Creative, Retention, Performance, and CRM teams. Support the development and execution of integrated campaigns and initiatives in partnership with Creative, Growth, Retention, Organic Social, and Influencer teams.
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Monitor key metrics, cultural trends, and competitive insights to continuously evolve how DoorDash engages customers during moments of value and habit formation.
What We're Looking For
- Marketing Experience: 5+ years of marketing experience in a corporate or startup environment, with a strong focus on retention and product marketing within a B2C context.
- Marketing Mix Fluency: A comprehensive understanding of how brand, CRM, paid, and lifecycle channels work together to drive both short-term and long-term growth. Experience across organic social, brand, and paid channels, with an understanding of their interplay across the funnel.
- Proven Retention Success: Demonstrated success in driving retention and customer engagement, with experience in lifecycle, growth, or value-based marketing.
- Strategic & Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate data and audience insights into actionable marketing plans and measurable business outcomes.
- Value Narrative Experience: Experience in shaping affordability or value narratives, including promotions, pricing, or perception-of-value campaigns.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional ability to build alignment and drive execution across teams, even without direct authority.
- Problem-Solving Skills: A creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to thrive in ambiguity, think like a general manager, and understand the root cause before defining solutions.
- Bias for Action & Ownership: Dependable, self-directed, and skilled at prioritizing impact in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Bonus: Experience in paid marketing, SEO/SEM, or lifecycle optimization.
Compensation and Benefits
The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the range of $108,800—$160,000 USD, determined by factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized. In addition to base salary, this role may include opportunities for equity grants.
