About the Role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dedicated Cultural Mediator fluent in Dari and Pashtu to join our team in Reggio Calabria. The IRC is a leading global humanitarian organization dedicated to assisting individuals affected by conflict and disaster, working in over 50 countries to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cultural Mediator, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and understanding between beneficiaries and IRC staff. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing accurate and impartial interpretation and translation services in Dari and Pashtu.
• Explaining cultural norms and practices to ensure effective and sensitive service delivery.
• Assisting beneficiaries in navigating local systems and accessing services.
• Supporting the implementation of IRC programs by bridging linguistic and cultural gaps.

Requirements

• Fluency in Dari and Pashtu (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in Italian and/or English is highly desirable.
• Experience in mediation, interpretation, or translation.
• Understanding of cultural nuances and sensitivities.
• A commitment to humanitarian principles and the mission of the IRC.
