We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Alerting squad, which operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project. This role is a remote opportunity, and we are particularly interested in candidates based in Sweden.

About the Role

The Grafana Alerting squad's mission is to provide users with the most in-depth way to manage their alerts. As a backend-focused team, we collaborate closely with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to ensure Alerting functions seamlessly both on-premises and at massive scale in the cloud.

Our work involves building and scaling distributed systems for alert ingestion, delivery, and evaluation. Recent projects include:

• Developing distributed systems to scale alert ingestion and delivery for Prometheus-based alerts.
• Unifying alert setup and delivery to ensure consistency between Grafana and Prometheus alerts.
• Building distributed systems to scale alert evaluation for Grafana-managed alerts, achieving over 500 evaluations per second in production.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Actively influence the team's roadmap and your own career development.
• Collaborate with your team to deliver new features, iterating based on results.
• Drive projects from initial ideation through to operational deployment.
• Contribute to our open-source culture and potentially other projects outside your immediate team's scope.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring their reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you manage.
• Mentor and support other team members, actively participating in design discussions.
• Continuously learn by deepening your understanding of our cloud product, customers, and the codebase of a large distributed system.

Compensation & Rewards

In Sweden, the compensation range for this role is SEK 775,444 - SEK 930,533. Actual compensation will be determined by level, experience, and skillset. All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), providing team members with ownership in Grafana Labs' success.
