About the Role

The Attraction Instructor is a versatile professional responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while prioritizing safety. This role involves leading and instructing guests in various activities, enforcing safety protocols, and being prepared for specialized land, water, and height rescues. You will be instrumental in fostering a positive atmosphere, providing outstanding customer service, and ensuring the safety of all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver top-tier hospitality and safety standards within tours, attractions, and excursions.
  • Provide group instruction on activity techniques, safety procedures, and equipment usage.
  • Enforce safety regulations and ensure guests understand and adhere to all protocols.
  • Lead, instruct, guide, and supervise guests in attractions, activities, and experiences.
  • Communicate positively and enthusiastically with guests, sharing information about the environment.
  • Manage and control diverse groups of varying abilities, ages, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate and promote a safety-first culture in all activities.
  • Respond effectively to guest needs and interpersonal situations, interpreting body language cues.

  • Maintain and clean all equipment, including kayaks, paddleboards, boats, rescue equipment, and zipline gear.
  • Conduct general maintenance on equipment and report any malfunctioning parts.
  • Maintain knowledge of all destination attractions and activities to assist guests.
  • Participate in building or repairing floating docks and other equipment as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of the assigned position and work environment.
  • Ensure personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform meet company policy.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and third-party inspections.
  • Greet guests, visitors, and team members warmly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar role (guiding/teaching).
  • Qualifications in rescue, lifeguarding, and first aid are advantageous. Expertise in rope rescues is a plus.
  • Proven group supervision experience and ability to manage guide groups. Climbing experience is desirable.
  • Ability to pass a company-required swim test and obtain company-designated lifeguard and first aid certifications.
  • Ability to obtain National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Rope Rescue certification.
  • Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse international environment.
  • Knowledge of customer service, needs assessment, problem resolution, and quality service standards.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for managing headcount on tours.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in sales or the ability to sell, upsell, and cross-sell products and services is an advantage.
  • Experience in driving boats or the ability to learn is required.
  • Ability to work under pressure without losing concentration or attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate and perform maintenance on various water equipment is an advantage.
  • Must be physically fit and able to pass a rigorous swim test including a 300-meter swim, 2-minute water tread, and a 3-4 meter dive to retrieve a weight, all within 30 minutes.
  • Must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills.
