Wealden District Council is seeking a responsible, reliable, and proactive individual to join their caretaking team as a Caretaker. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operation of the Council Offices in Hailsham.
About the Role
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining the Council Offices and Civic Community Hall. This includes opening the building, reporting any faults, monitoring essential services, assisting with deliveries, and managing the setup of the Community Hall. You will also play an active role in emergency procedures, health and safety, and security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the building.
- Reporting building faults and maintenance issues.
- Monitoring essential building services.
- Assisting with deliveries to the offices.
- Monitoring and setting up the Civic Community Hall.
- Responding to emergency situations and liaising with emergency services.
- Implementing and adhering to health and safety and security procedures.
- Being contactable via telephone to provide cover.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caretaking, security, or a similar role is essential.
- A full, clean driving licence is essential.
- Ability to undertake the physical duties of the role.
- Proactive, responsible, and reliable.
- Willingness to work early mornings and/or late evenings as per rota coverage over a 6-day period (Monday-Saturday).
