Senior Backend Engineer - Remote (Worldwide)

Gameplay Galaxy is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our innovative team. This is a permanent, fully remote position offering the opportunity to take ownership of critical backend systems for a live mobile F2P game and our AI agentic platform. You will work on feature releases, live operations, monetization, analytics pipelines, and ensure system reliability. This role offers significant ownership from day one, with a clear path towards platform or tech leadership as the company scales.

About the Role

You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our live mobile free-to-play game and the AI agent platform used for game operations. You will directly impact production systems serving real players and generating real revenue.

What You'll Work On

• Game Backend: Develop and maintain the API server, real-time features (Socket.io), analytics ingestion, and cron jobs within a unified TypeScript monorepo.
• AI Agent Platform: Build and enhance the MCP server in Go, which bridges Large Language Models (LLMs) with our databases and third-party APIs.
• External Integrations: Integrate with various services including Slack, Discord, GitLab, Meta Ads, Google Ads, AppLovin, and Apple App Store.
• LLM Routing: Manage and optimize routing for LLM providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and DashScope.
• Production Support: Provide essential support for our live PvP mobile game.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proven experience with TypeScript/Node.js at production scale, including shipping and operating services.
• Proficiency with MongoDB in production environments, including replica sets, aggregation pipelines, and transaction patterns.
• Experience with ClickHouse for analytical queries, materialized views, and large-scale joins.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production (experience with k3s on GCP, Helmfile, and GitLab CI is a plus).

Strongly Preferred Skills

• Experience with Go, particularly reading and extending standard library net/http services.
• Familiarity with LLM API integrations (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI).
• Experience with mobile gaming backends, including live ops, A/B testing infrastructure, and in-app purchase validation.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging systems like RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, and RBAC.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), specifically mark3labs/mcp-go.
• Experience with F2P economy design or monetization backend systems.
• Knowledge of Apple/Google Play Store APIs.
• Background in agent systems or autonomous workflows.
