WTW is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in Defined Benefit (DB) pensions to join their project management team. This is a permanent, hybrid role offering an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver a variety of client-facing and internal pension change projects for medium to large pension schemes across diverse industries.
About the Role
In this dynamic position, you will manage a broad portfolio of projects including:
- GMP equalisation
- Buy-in/Buy-out readiness
- Benefits rectification
- Scheme mergers
- Scheme wind-ups
- Other pension change initiatives
You will collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple business lines, clients, administrators, actuaries, and external partners. This role is ideal for individuals with strong project management skills gained in pension projects, actuarial project environments, or pensions consulting, who enjoy both structured project delivery and complex problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply pensions technical knowledge, consulting skills, and project management experience to guide project teams towards optimal outcomes.
- Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress.
- Establish robust project governance frameworks.
- Provide day-to-day project management, ensuring project milestones are delivered within scope and budget.
- Lead and document project calls and facilitate planning workshops.
- Drive high-quality client project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Conduct continual project improvement reviews.
- Ensure project documentation, such as risk logs and action plans, is actively maintained.
Requirements
- A strong working background in UK Defined Benefit pensions.
- Solid knowledge of DB scheme operations, legislation, and technical project areas (e.g., GMP rectification/equalisation, Buy-ins, Buy-outs, wind-ups).
- Experience within actuarial project teams, pension administration projects, or pensions consulting is highly advantageous.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and client-facing experience.
- Prince 2 qualification or similar (e.g., APM, PMP, CSM), or a willingness to obtain one.
- Clear, concise, and confident communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience in facilitating and leading project meetings/workshops.
- A proactive and assertive management approach.
- Strong stakeholder management experience.
