Fullstack / Product Engineer (f/m/d) for Flutter & Node.js (100% Homeoffice)
memodio · Potsdam
Job Description
About memodio
memodio is a digital health application (DiGA) dedicated to combating forgetfulness and dementia. Our app is prescribed by doctors, fully reimbursed by German statutory health insurance, and endorsed by leading medical associations. Clinical trials have demonstrated its effectiveness in improving memory performance, everyday independence, and quality of life. With over five years on the market, memodio combines the agility and ownership culture of a startup with the stability of a validated product and established reimbursement partners. We are currently expanding our engineering team.
What We're Building
Our core product is live and positively impacting thousands of users, but we are continuously evolving it. A significant part of this role involves enhancing the existing application to better serve our user base, primarily individuals aged 50+ experiencing early-stage cognitive decline. Your contributions will have a direct and visible impact on users' daily lives. Beyond the core product, we are developing new and adjacent products, including those with AI capabilities. If you are excited by the prospect of working with Large Language Models and AI-powered features, you will have the opportunity to shape these from their inception.
Your Role
We refer to this position as a Product Engineer to emphasize the collaborative and problem-solving nature of the role. You will be presented with challenges, context, and user needs, and will have the autonomy to devise the most effective solutions. This approach fosters creativity and ownership over the features you deliver. You will join a small, dedicated engineering team where your decisions will carry significant weight. We plan to grow the engineering team over the coming years, and this role is designed to scale with that growth. There is also an opportunity to grow into a technical leadership position if desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend: Enhance our Flutter application (iOS & Android), with a strong emphasis on accessibility and usability for users aged 50+.
- Backend: Design and build Node.js APIs and services to support new feature development.
- Product: Collaborate closely with medical and product colleagues, contributing your insights to product strategy and development.
- Quality: Establish and maintain code review practices, testing strategies, and engineering standards suitable for a regulated medical software environment.
- DevOps (Optional): Contribute to shaping our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes if interested.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including relevant mobile and backend development.
- Strong proficiency in Flutter/Dart, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn (e.g., from React Native or native mobile development backgrounds).
- Comfort working with underspecified problems, proposing solutions, and making technical decisions.
- A self-directed and structured approach to work, thriving in a small team environment with significant ownership.
- Dedication to going the extra mile when critical deadlines or fixes are required.
- Fluent English communication skills. German is a plus but not required.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a startup or consultancy setting.
- Interest or experience in software security.
- Ambition to grow into a leadership role.
- Experience with accessibility or developing for older users.
- DevOps experience (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure).
- Experience in regulated environments such as DiGA or medical devices.
What We Offer
- Purpose: Contribute to a product that measurably improves lives, clinically validated and prescribed by doctors.
- Impact: As an early full-time engineer, you will significantly influence architecture, processes, and team culture.
- Stability & Agility: Benefit from the stability of a 5+ year market presence and statutory health insurance reimbursement, combined with startup energy.
- Flexibility: Work remotely from anywhere in Germany with flexible working hours.
- Collaborative Environment: Join a small, focused team where energy is directed towards product development.
