Senior Product Manager I, Data Platform and Platform API

HubSpot CRM is the foundation for hundreds of thousands of businesses managing their customers and growth. The Data Platform organization owns the core data constructs that define HubSpot's schema and the API mission for how this data layer is accessed, extended, and built upon by developers and partners. We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to own these critical areas.

This is a highly technical role requiring significant ownership and influence across the organization, with customers, partners, and developers. The decisions made in this role will impact every product team at HubSpot and every developer building on our platform. You will need a strong architectural intuition for data modeling and strategic product management experience to evolve a foundational system without disrupting existing functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a shared vision and cohesive roadmap for HubSpot's data primitives, including objects, properties, property groups, associations, and the metadata systems that govern them.
• Own the API strategy for the Data Platform, defining standards for data layer accessibility, setting direction for API quality and consistency, and collaborating with Ecosystem and Partnerships teams to maximize platform value.
• Drive alignment on schema evolution across HubSpot, working with Product Managers, engineers, and architects to ensure the data model is backward-compatible and forward-looking.
• Guide new product ideas from concept through launch, including improvements to how customers define and manage their data models within HubSpot.
• Engage directly with customers to understand their data complexity, from small businesses to enterprise teams with sophisticated data architectures.
• Utilize data and developer research to identify and address friction points in our API surface, partnering with engineering to deliver measurable improvements in developer experience.
• Represent the data primitives and API roadmap to senior leadership, ecosystem partners, and key enterprise customers.

Requirements

• Proven experience launching products successfully, particularly in platform, data infrastructure, or developer tooling contexts.
• Deep fluency in data modeling concepts, including entity-relationship modeling, schema design, metadata systems, and data normalization. Experience with metadata platforms, data catalogs, or CRM data models is a strong plus.
• Strong API intuition, with experience shaping REST or GraphQL APIs and understanding concepts like versioning, backward compatibility, latency tradeoffs, and developer ergonomics.
• A multidisciplinary approach to product thinking, integrating market, business, and technical insights to identify opportunities and weigh tradeoffs.
• Ability to read and write technical specifications, and comfort reviewing architecture diagrams, ERDs, and API contracts.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate product vision to diverse audiences including engineers, executives, and external developers.
• A deep respect for collaborators across engineering, design, UX research, analytics, and other functions.
• A strong drive to understand customer needs and solve their problems, including those with complex data requirements.
• Familiarity with how HubSpot products function and their reliance on the underlying data model.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions, test assumptions, and iterate in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Understanding of the competitive software landscape, including how other CRM and data platforms handle schema extensibility and developer ecosystems.
• Experience using or building supporting infrastructure for AI products and agentic experiences is a plus.

• Annual Cash Compensation Range: $140,000—$210,000 USD.
