Customs Agent
FedEx is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Customs Agent to join our team. This is a permanent, onsite position for a mid-level professional.
About the Role
As a Customs Agent, you will perform a key role in processing, coordinating, and obtaining customs clearance approval for import/export and transshipments of documents, packages, and merchandise. You will work under general guidance to ensure timely, efficient, and effective customs procedures for consignments arriving and departing via aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare necessary customs forms for import, export, and transshipment procedures, including master airway bills, cargo manifests, general declarations, and invoices.
- Prepare forms detailing customs duties, tariffs, and taxes/V.A.T. fees for timely cost recovery.
- Prepare international manifests to facilitate responsive and efficient customs clearance.
- Accurately select and inspect assigned packages, reporting stop counts and miss-sorts.
- Ensure station compliance with country customs and tax laws, as well as FedEx policies and procedures.
- Interface with customs officials and coordinate customs activities with internal operations employees.
- Maintain organized and properly filed customs documentation.
- Perform sorting, baggage support at the airport and station, and retrieve air freight from carriers as required.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent English skills, with specific knowledge of customs-related English.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment or as per local labor regulations.
- Two to three years of experience in international freight/cargo customs policies, procedures, rules, and laws.
- Knowledge of airport and customs clearance procedures is preferred.
- Personable with good written and verbal communication skills.
- General office skills and computer literacy.
- A valid driver's license.
- CRT experience is preferred.
